With me I'd say in this case the good outweighs the bad, there'd be plenty of time for the guy to answer for his crimes, but at the same time the main focus is putting an end to this thing once and for all.

That I do not know. They purposefully made it, but whether the release is accidental or not, I don't know. Either way. Now we know where it comes from and now it can be stopped.
