My Views: Good Days and Bad

Posted by CIEIRMusic - September 29th, 2023

First of all, I want to let you know that my recent absence and little to lack of posting material, was not out of anything negative. Not from the drama of the site, nor from my being impatient in waiting for something bigger to happen. If anything, it's something to be celebrated. But before I get into it, let me give you some context regarding my latest edition of My Views.

You ever once in your life had something good happen to you, only for something bad, be it minor or major to fuck things up and ruin the rest of your day. That is how I lived my life......until now.

For as long as I can remember, I always believed that there were just good days and bad. Good days where something great happens to you or bad days that ruin it for you. Some even last more than one day. Other times it gets worse when one tries to have a good day, only for it to turn into a bad day.

A lot of others whether I know them or not, have had the same problem. Granted in different ways, but the same problem. Let me run through a few typical Bad Day scenarios for further context:

  1. You are a construction worker, you are paid minimum wage, you managed to get a bonus from all the hard work you've done. Only for some outstanding debt to pop up that costs you all that bonus, but a few dollars. That is a Good Day Going Bad.
  2. You're a businessperson. Your stocks have been higher than ever before to the point where you're richer than God. Only for one bad business fuck up causing you to plummet. Also a Good Day Going Bad.
  3. You're Homeless, you just managed to get a $50 Bill after hours of begging for change. Just enough for you to get a feast only for someone to con you out of it leaving you only enough to eat for the day. That is also a Good Day Going Bad.

And now a few Good Day Scenarios. Using the same people:

  1. After losing all but a few dollars of your Bonus, you discover that a relative of yours has succeeded in their line of work and offers to help you get back what you lost. Or maybe the debt turned out to be a fraud and you could sue the creditor for more money than they tried to take from you. Point being is somehow some way you get your Bonus Back. Turning a Bad Day into a Good One, even if you're still pissed off about that.
  2. After getting close to jumping off the Wall Street Roof, you get a call. Either your company gets a huge bailout, the plummet turned out to be an error or a misunderstanding or one of your other investments make up for more than what you lost. Another example of a Bad Day turning into a Good One.
  3. You went to the nearest eatery, with just enough for a burger or whatever food you happen to be craving. On top of having something to eat and having a warm place to rest until your next exhausting travel, someone sees you. Could be a more well off customer feeling generous or god forbid a member of the staff or even the manager. But someone helps you in some way, either providing more food or enough cash for you to stay in a motel for a few days at least. That is yet another example of a Bad Day Turning Good.

Now why did it happen? Because of a few things.

  1. These people waited long enough for something good to happen and it eventually did.
  2. It wasn't handed to them or demanded from them that it happened.
  3. Most importantly. No matter how bad things went for them, they don't let it ruin the rest of their day.

And for the past 30 days including today. From August 31st, to September 29, I have had an impossible amount of Good Days and right now I am as happy as happy can be.

To give a typical scenario of my life:

I live in a building where there are a lot of bad people living there and a few good people I can trust. As of last August I survived one year of this place. I've faced many things, from confrontations with unruly neighbors, to cutting off toxic people from my personal life. However in the past 30 days, a lot of Good things have happened minor and major, no matter how bad things seemed to get.

Now at the time I started to notice this I only had 3 Good Days in a row. The days range from making a few bucks helping some people who couldn't walk to the stores themselves, to being a listening ear to those that needed it and helping whoever I can when I can. Just to name a few things and as a result, Good Deeds have happened to me in return. It even gave me the opportunity to do even more good deeds for others, because I was raised to do everything in my own power to do so. I even managed to resolve a few personal situations that have bugged me not just for months, but years. Including but not limited to helping my relatives pack and leave my town for better pastures. So needless to say whatever Good Days I've been having are starting to extend beyond just my own home front.

Now the reason why I call them Good Days, was because even when bad stuff happened, I never ONCE let it ruin the rest of my day. If anything it motivates me into trying to keep those days Good, rather than let it ruin the rest of the day.

And that has been going on, including today, for the exact past 30 days.

It's why I put this one above all else on the front page. To share this with the world.

While many may disagree, this is my view on Good Days and Bad Days.

It all goes down to three simple rules:

  1. You can turn a bad day into a good day, by doing the best with what you have. Good days don't involve material interest, they are literally just meant to make a good day no matter what.
  2. If something bad happens to you, regardless of it's minor or major, that is only ONE bad part of what could be an overall good day. Wait the rest of the day, before you officially declare it ruined.
  3. Most importantly. YOU have the power. The only reason the day feels bad is if YOU feel it's bad.

Follow these simple rules no matter what and I believe you'll have just as much Good Days, if not more than I currently have. At this point I DON'T GIVE A FUCK, if a slew of bad days come around the corner, because I realized this power and I want to share it with all of you.

Thank you so much for all your love and support and stay tuned.

Nice read right after waking up with a cup o mornin' coffee.
Not just some mindless vague buzz-wordy feelgood post (kike some new age mindfullness stuff) But actually putting in a bit of effort to put in some nuance and solid examples.

And can deffinetly relate to the first few financial examples. Like great, got a few extra pennies, now go ahead and pay a bunch of extra bills! >=]
And also very much the living with a lot of people, including the fair shair of awfull ones. But also comming to see that there some in there that I can actually trust, and rely on for certain things.

But sometimes the moods just do what they want. Sometimes a day goes majorly fantastic, but feels ruined by something teeny tiny that happens.
And just a few days ago. I had a situation that normally would completely ruined my whole week, but somehow, I just positively carried along:
Had a nasty leak comming from the ceiling, in the corner of my room, right at the head of my bed.
Had a corner getting soaked, had to move the bed away, towels on the floor, allong with a bunch of pots and pans to try and catch most of the water.

I could've stressed the frick out and lost my shit over it: like the floor becomming crooked (more than it already is, lol). Matress getting ruined, mold forming on the walls and ceiling after the fact. Or having to keep my corner of my already cramped room clear on rainy days, and not being able to fix and replace shit because: broke.
But nah, kinda just joked about it during the day, and just went ahead and did what I could to keep the damages to a minimum. Had some nice talks with the nice neighbours. Went to work, and got allong nicely with work going smooth as well. Nothing special or magically wholesome, just a regular day, other than the problematic mess at home.

So yeah, think there's some exceptions, both good and bad. But generally, a good rule of thumb you gave, to keep in mind.
Good to keep yourself in a nice in-the-middle state of mind. Like staying sharp and a little cautious, when things go well, and not to lose your mind, or your hope, when a situation takes a turn for the shitty.

First of all regarding your apartment, you have my deepest sympathies. I grew up in a bad neighborhood, so I know what it's like to deal with crap like that.

Second of all I'm glad my post resonated with you.

Third. No word of a lie. Maintaining those days wasn't easy, but I managed to get through them.

Amazing. Glad for the lack of buzzwords.

Eh it was overwhelming in a good way. Things just happen to fall into place for me. Just recently I bought an orange shirt for Truth an Reconciliation Day.

By the way, unrelated subject. But vaguely related sort of feeling, like feeling bad during good times. That sorta bittersweetness.

Do you ever have this weird thing, whenever somebody who's around you, unconciously picks up some kind of good mannerism from you, and if you notice that person, unspokenly taking over some possitive habbit. Then it for some reason, initially feels kind of like somebody taking credit for a joke you came up with?
It doesn't really makes sense to me myself, as to why that initial feeling pops in, whenever I've seen somebody take over a small good habbit.
And no big deal, because it always mellows right away after a few seconds, realising that it's a stupid feeling, because something obviously good is goin on.

Or maybe that's just me, not realing I'm being sort of arrogant?

Well it often depends on the person with the mannerism and the person imitating it. The person imitating it taking credit or no, probably didn't mean anything by it initially and it sort of assimilated into his consciousness. Other times they are jerks just trying to copy others to be cool. My own personality is not so much an assimilation, but an amalgamation of the people in my life. Most of their good or bad quirks rub off on me and I was able to shape them into my own personality quirks. Not so much imitations, but interpretations of them in my POV.

You're not being arrogant though. If someone is stealing your identity that way, you have every right to call them out on it.
