The Shield is an especially nice touch. On top of making the groom look badass it makes it looks like he takes the classic vows seriously. Especially "For better and for worse." What can be more worse in their life than something that requires a shield to defend them from.

Seeing this, makes me think that at one point Eddie tried to take advantage of Angela and that triggered her childhood trauma which in turn summoned Abstract Daddy.
