My Views 2: Social Media

Posted by CIEIRMusic - October 23rd, 2022

This one is a little more tongue-in-cheek than my last one:

As it is more focused on one topic, but my opinions remain the same in no exaggeration. In this case Social Media. Now when this stuff first came out, depending on the platform, it either gave me excitement or a crippling headache. Excitement due to the many merits of it and there are some. While at the same time there are a boat load of faults. Here's my take on them, not just from personal experience, but from what I've witnessed others doing in my life. Now I'm not gonna cover them all because God knows, there are and still will be new ones popping up, but I am gonna cover the more well known ones:

Youtube

In it's heyday it was one of the most brilliant pieces of social media platforms on the planet. Just people coming together making videos for the hell of it or in some cases showing clips of their favourite medias. Some of which even gave rise to stars like James "The Angry Video Game Nerd" Rolfe. However, due to piracy law on the latter and a huge complaint on the safety of the users on the former things changed for the worse. Nowadays it's a bland stale floor of what it used to be with plenty of Eggshells to walk on. And that's not even getting started on the greed of both user and staff alike. While my views on the platform vary, I disagree with COPPA. If you want kids to watch youtube, then let them Watch Youtube Kids. Much like TV, kids shouldn't even be watching adult programming or engaging in adult conversations with adults online. Which should also apply to many sites including this one. One of the things that really piss me off about that is that due to the anonymity of these places, you never know you're arguing with a kid until they tell you and even then it's often hard to take that at face value.

Facebook

I first heard of Facebook around the same time as I heard of Youtube. In Highschool back when it was fresh and new. Teachers hated it and would even go so far as send kids to the office for using it on School computers. I never understood why until some of my friends and family started getting their own Facebook accounts. Literally with the selection of a select few, every one I ever knew has at least one Facebook Personal Account. I hated every moment of it and I'll tell you why. It was like their eyes were glued to the screens. Be it on their computers or recently their phones.

As if they turned into Zombies interested in human drama. As if things can possibly get any worse, The Social Network hits theaters, making Facebook more popular than ever before and all of it because some creep wanted to stalk his girlfriend. When I first heard the name Mark Zuckerberg in the movie my thoughts were "Great, if I have a time machine I'll at least know who to kill before they make that." And that is not even getting started on the scandal that happened years back.

Whenever someone asks me "How come you never get a Facebook account?" I say to them the same three answers:

  1. It's turning people into Zombies.
  2. I don't want my personal information to be sold to the fucking CIA or Terrorist orginizations.
  3. The most mundane one compared to the other two, because it's so easy to find people on Facebook, friend, foe and family alike, I fear running into someone I pissed off in Grade School.

Facebook is one of the worst platforms to ever exist.

Twitter:

Great for advertising and trying to talk to celebrities, but shit for everything else. The second you get sucked into any drama situation you'll either fight to you're suspended or delete your account before it messes with your life. And that is not even remotely beginning to cover all the disgusting individuals such as the MAPs and NO MAPs I ran into there. You think me defending Jes is evil, try arguing with a bunch of pedophiles that honestly don't think that having sex with children is wrong. Or Shota and Lolicons that think that just because it's fictional it should be ok to Jerk off to. Then just when you're in the heat of it, you're the one getting suspended for "Harassing" them. The only benefit that site gave me was that it gave me my first paying fan at the time as well as the banner and logo I use.

Tumblr:

Personally I think this place gets a bad rep unjustly. Don't get me wrong I understand why as it was one of the breeding grounds for the Social Justice Warrior movement among most things, but it's more harder to get sucked into drama there, when you're only using it as an advertising ground.

TikTok

Now I've only heard some things about this site, but from what I gather there are multiple reasons to both like and hate it. On the like side of things, it allows people to express themselves in short videos. I even once watched a TikTok on a girl who was very good at identifying psychological triggers and how they work. However on the bad side of things addiction, certain disgusting content that shouldn't be shown, racial bias, misinformation and ironically censorship among most things.

Instagram

Good for advertising, but I honestly think that it shouldn't be a mobile only Social Media.

Snapchat

Fun, but unless they have fresh and new ideas, the novelty wears off right away.

However while there are praises and merits of these ones. However surprisingly they and every other social media are not at fault for the biggest problem they have been accused of causing. Mainly just guilty for enabling them. Much like the internet it stands on, Social Media, when you get down to it, was meant to unite the world for the better. 2 Decades ago I wouldn't even dream of talking to people all over the world as I would at home, due to how impossible that seems. Nowadays I am talking to people be it friends, foes or fans alike from all parts of the world as though they are in the living room with me. That's an amazment I give credit for. However there lies in the problem. Before, not many people had a means to express their voice and views all over the worlds, because computers were so few and between and Cellphones haven't had internet access yet. Nowadays, thanks to social media and the tools we use to access it, rather than unite the world for the better, we instead are the net equivalent to all being pushed into a crowded room and fighting each other for the last pocket of air. Twitter alone sickened me on how many disgusting people were put in with others who aren't even remotely bad.

I know people have asked this question before for many reasons just or not, but I honestly should ask this. What in the flying fuck is this world coming to?

For many people it's hard to just let whatever shit they argue about on Social Media go and just look on the outside world for what it is, because everyone is so focused on who's right and wrong that nothing else seemed to matter on this.

I should know, I was one of those people.

Anyone reading this on a phone, shut it off now and take one long look at the world while you still can. Because if you're not gonna go blind from constantly staring at a screen, the world itself as you know it would be gone and you'll wonder where it went. All because you decided to argue with someone on pointless bullshit.

yeah, all social medias are turning people to zombies, "meeemes", "jookes", "pooorn", "influeencers", as the prophecy on the holy writing has told:
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2 Peter 3:3

I know you're joking on this one. However when I say zombies I don't mean the flesh eating kind. I mean the original mind control kind. I've seen it myself many times. So many people pay more attention to their smartphones than paying attention to the road they're Crossing.

i have a newgrounds, a youtube (the main where i post the animations), a facebook, twitter, instagram and a tik tok. I use them strategically, like newgrounds to talk to the international families, facebook to the brazilian families, twitter to talk some certain artists

@CIEIRMusic well, i'm not joking, most of the people nowadays are like that and this is not the only prophecy about the "last days" or the "end of the times" that is happening right now

I don't know what kept me off of NG honestly. Ever since my unknown unmotivation from it, I've been posting my art on 2 other platforms and I'm actually trying to remaster them... I still use this for music which I think that's the only thing people wanted from me on here lol.
